ASP Arvind Thakur said that the accident occurred near Deori village on National Highway 44 under Civil Lines police station limits where a container (truck) hit a tractor trolley in which Kanwariyas were travelling. Some Kanwariyas were in the trolley and some of them were moving on foot. After the collision, the tractor-trolley overturned in which two Kanwariyas died and around five sustained injuries. After the accident, fellow Kanwariyas sat on the highway and blocked the traffic. On receiving the information about the incident, the police rushed to the spot, talked to them and they agreed to stop the agitation. The container driver has been taken into custody. He too had sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment, the officer added.
