It shows that malnourishment among children in 0-6 years age group in the state has increased slightly over the past one year. According to Poshan Tracker App, in March 2024, the percentage of underweight children in the state was 23. The bill, if enacted into law, would amend Georgia's penal code to define Hinduphobia explicitly and instruct law enforcement agencies to take appropriate action in crimes involving hate crimes against Hindus in the US. Republican Senators Shawn Still and Clint Dixon, along with Democratic Senators Jason Esteves and Emanuel D Jones, have jointly backed the legislation. Senate Bill 375 seeks to insert a new provision in the Georgia code that defines "Hinduphobia" as a "set of weight in 2025. In the year before, the two figures were 32% and 15% respectively. State to launch scheme to boost milk production 4Continued on | P8 3 girls drown in illegal mining pit FP News Service FP News Service INDORE/MHOW SATNA A shocking tragedy occurred in Richul village were three young girls from the same family died after slipping into an illegally built mining pit filled with water, the incident happened under the jurisdiction of Jaso police station. According to the police reports, the girls were playing near the site when they accidently fell into the deep pit. Rainwater had filled the hole, which had been formed as a result of illicit mining by a local contractor. Because of the depth, the girls drowned before villagers could save them. Despite rapid efforts by locals, all three were certified dead by the time they were extracted. After receiving the information, Jaso police arrived on the site and opened a case. 4Continued on | P8 Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Saturday announced that the state government would launch a new scheme to bolster milk production and name it after Dr BR Ambedkar to mark his 134th birth anniversary. Talking to reporters in Indore, Yadav said the government aims to make the state number one in milk production with this scheme. ‘Madhya Pradesh's contribution to national milk production is around 9 per cent. Our government has set a target to increase this to 20 per cent through cattle conservation. To achieve this, we will launch a new scheme on the occasion of Dr Ambedkar's birth anniversary,’ he said. The Chief Minister said the scheme would help increase milk production and the income of the state's farmers. Yadav laid the foundation stone for Indore Municipal Corporation's ‘Kamdhenu Gaushala’ in Ashapura village near Mhow, the birthplace of Dr Ambedkar. He said that from Sunday, the government is going to begin Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu Yojana. Under this, cattle farmers will be given 25 per cent subsidy on purchasing more than 25 cows. This will promote milk production. The facility will come up in a 25-hectare area and will have a capacity to house more than 10k cows. Addressing a gathering after that Dr Yadav, who hails from a cow herder family in Uttar Pradesh, expressed strong disapproval for those who find the environment of a cow shelter unpleasant, attributing such sentiments to political motivations.
