Besides Modi, 71 ministers took oath and these included 30 Cabinet ministers, five Ministers of State with Independent Charge and 36 Ministers of State. However, in order to accommodate its new allies, the BJP which had won only , 240 Lok Sabha seats, dropped several of its leaders, including Smriti Irani, Anurag Tha- kur, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, R.K. Singh and Narayan Rane. The portfolios are likely to be announced on Monday . Modi has retained his core team of Cabinet ministers while also inducting nine new faces. After him Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah and Nitin Gadkari took oath. Then it was the turn of BJP president J.P Nadda, whose ex. tended term as party chief comes to an end later this month, to take oath as a Cabinet minister. He was also the health minister in Modi’s first Cabinet. Bhopal recorded rise of 5.5 degrees Celsius in day temperature which stood at 40.9 degrees Celsius while it recorded night temperature 28.4 degrees Celsius. Sunny weather in the afternoon gave way to cloudy sky in the evening, but it increased humidity, giving people a tough time. The period of relief from heat wave proved shortlived. The southwesterly winds changed course and started blowing from the west once again. This shift ushered in dry weather conditions, leading to a significant rise in temperatures and a potential resurgence of the heat wave, with areas potentially experiencing severe heat wave conditions. Indore recorded day temperature 37.4 degrees Celsius after rise of 4.6 degrees Celsius while it recorded night temperature 25.2 de- grees Celsius. Day temperature rise ranged up to 7 degrees Celsius. Ujjain recorded rise of 6.7 degrees Celsius while Dhar recorded rise of 6.4 degrees Celsius. ON P6 Seven accused arrested OUR STAFF REPORTER CITY.BHOPAL@FPJ.CO.IN < Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a senior officer of NHAI who is general manager and project director, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Chhatarpur, while accepting bribe of Rs 10 lakhs from accused employees of a private company for showing undue favour to the said company, officials said on Sunday. The CBI also arrested six other accused including an NHAI consultant and a resident engineer, four employees of the private company, in the said case of bribery . A case was registered by CBI on June 8, against 10 accused including 7 accused of a private company including its two directors on allegations that two directors of the said private company in conspiracy with the accused NHAI employees had been obtaining undue favours from the accused NHAI officers for obtaining no objection certificate and processing of the final bill in respect of Jhansi-Khajuraho Project awarded to the said private company by NHAI. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused GM and project director Chattarpur Purushottam Lal Choudhary red-handed while he was accepting bribe of Rs 10 lakh from employees of private company. Searches are being conducted at premises of the accused persons at various locations, including Chhattarpur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra and Gurugram and incriminating documents, including the digital de- The southwest monsoon reached Mumbai on Sunday, two days earlier than usual after making an early onset over Kerala and northeastern region on May 30, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Last year, the primary rain-bearing system reached Delhi and Mumbai together on June 25, first time since June 21, 1961, with Cyclone Biparjoy impacting its progress over southern India and the adjoining western and central parts of the country. Normally, the monsoon reaches Kerala by June 1, Mumbai by June 11, and the national capital by June 27. On May 15, the weather office had announced the vices have been recovered in the raids. Investigations are going on in the case, added officials. Weather scientists said cyclone Remal, which ripped through West Bengal and Bangladesh in Mayend, pulled the monsoonal flow to the Bay of Bengal, resulting in an early onset over the northeast. The simultaneous onset of monsoon over Kerala and the northeast is quite rare and has happened on four occasions earlier -2017, 1997, 1995 and 1991. The normal monsoon onset date is June 1 for Kerala and June 5 for Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur and Assam. Between 1971 and 2024, the earliest onset of monsoon over Kerala was in 1990 when the annual rains reached the coastal state on May 18. The onset of mon- Veerendra Kumar and Jyotiraditya Scindia have found a place in the cabinet, but Faggan Singh Kulaste who was a minister in the first two terms of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not included in the cabinet. ON P6 In a terror attack, which was perhaps timed to draw attention away from the swearing in ceremony ten pilgrims , were killed and 33 injured when suspected terrorists fired upon a bus in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district. The 53-seater bus, which was returning from Shiv Khori temple in Reasi to Katra, rolled down a gorge following the attack. The incident took place at around 6.15 pm near Teryath village in Poni area. The police had evacuated all the passengers by 8.10 pm with the help of local villagers. The injured were rushed to different hospitals. The bus was allegedly attacked multiple times and several empty rounds of bullets were found at the spot. A temporary joint security hub of the army police and , CRPF has been set up at the site and a multidimensional operation launched to hunt down the attackers. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi Mohita Sharma said the bus veered out of control and fell into the gorge under the hail of bullets. “The identity of the deceased is not clear yet but preliminary reports suggest that they all belong to Uttar Pradesh,” she said.
