The sessions court's registry department has also raised certain objections to surety papers submitted by Navlakha's lawyer as part of SC-set conditions. The 70-year-old activist, who claims to suffer from multiple ailments, is in custody since April 2020 in the 2017-18 case. On November 10, the Supreme Court allowed Navlakha to be put under house arrest for a month with certain conditions and had said its order should be implemented within 48 hours. The arrested person has been identified as Avinash Jain, Managing Director and Promoter of M/s Arise India Limited. The company deals in the manufacturing of electrical goods. During the investigation of the case, CBI examined several persons including witnesses, officials of a private , company Bank Officials, etc.. However, the said MD/Promoter of the company was found to be evasive in his replies. A case was registered in November 2020 against a private company based at Mangala Puri in the Palam area of New Delhi and others including its Director and Promoter, other Directors; Unknown Public Servants/others on the allegations of causing loss to Banks to the tune of Rs. 512.67 crore (approx). The complainant bank i.e. State Bank of India in its complaint had alleged that the accused cheated the consortium of six banks, led by State Bank of India, causing fraud of Rs. 512.67 Crore. It was further alleged that the accused had diverted bank loans to its related parties and deliberately cheated the banks . by inflating the debtors of the company NEW DELHI In a gut-wrenching incident, a 29-year-old woman was strangled allegedly by her live-in partner, who chopped her body into nearly 35 pieces and kept them in a fridge for nearly 20 days before gradually dumping them across Delhi. According to police officials, 28-year-old Aftab Poonawala of Mumbai has been arrested in the case, and some severed body parts of the woman, Shraddha Walkar, have been recovered. The weapon used in the crime is yet to be found, they said. "The duo fell in love while working in Mumbai and came to Delhi by Aprilend or May first week after facing opposition from their families. AIZAWL At least 15 people are feared trapped after a stone quarry collapsed in south Mizoram's Hnahthial district, about 160 km from , Aizawl, on Monday a senior police officer said. The incident occurred at around 3 pm when labourers of ABCI Infrastructure private limited were working in the quarry at Mau, darh village, Hnahthial, SP Vineet Kumar said. He said that 13 people were working at the place when it caved in. While one worker managed to escape from the spot the remaining 15 failed to do so and were trapped under the debris, the SP told PTI. ON P6 Retail inflation drops to 6.77% in Oct, WPI slips to 19-month low New Delhi: Indicating easing of the price situation, retail inflation moderated to 6.7 per cent in October while the wholesale price index fell to a 19-month low mainly on account of subdued rates of food items.The fall in consumer price index-based retail inflation to 6.77 per cent in October from 7.41 per cent in September has also brought some relief for the Reserve Bank which has been struggling to bring it below the upper tolerance level of 6 per cent since January this year.Retail inflation is the lowest in three months. A press release from IIL said it along with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying and Arunachal Pradesh government's Agriculture and Ani- mal Husbandry department and drone service provider came together for the maiden drone flight from Roing to Paghlam in the North eastern state. As many as 1,000 doses of Raksha Ovac (FMD) vaccine were delivered covering an aerial distance of over 20 km, company sources said. Drone delivery of vaccines is expected to not only reach remote difficult terrains faster but also help in providing critical vaccines on time for the protection of livestock from several diseases, the release said.
