Closed-circuit television cameras will be installed at all places where 100 people or above gather. Besides, CCTV cameras will be installed at all gated colonies, residential townships, housing societies, big apartments and built-up areas of 1,500 sq.ft or above, including-but not limited toestablishcommercial ments, religious places, offices and educational institutes. At its first meeting on , Monday mayor-in-council (MiC) gave approval to the Indore Community Camera (Surveillance) Bylaws, 2022. The by-laws will come into force after the IMC council nod. "For public safety and security and for protecting both people and property, we've passed a resolution for installation of CCTV cameras in the city," mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav told reporters after the MiC meeting. He said an integrated control-and-command centre would be set up tentatively at the Smart City office. Bhargav stated that installing cameras would be mandatory and added that the installation would be done with public participation. "We've identified around 12,000 locations WHAT ESTABLISHMENTS HAVE TO DO CCTV cameras will be installed so they cover entry and exit points and parking lot, but also the critical and sensitive areas of the establishment. Violations of, failure to comply with, the above by-laws may lead to punitive action as prescribed under provisions of the law, including the relevant sections of the Information Technology Act, 2000/ Police Act, 1861/ Madhya Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, 1956/ Indian Penal Code, 1860/Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973/ and so forth.
