As sun rose on Monday, the mystery unravelled shocking everyone BEWAFA Planned in Love, SONAM Ended in Blood Our Staff Reporter INDORE/SHILLONG/GHAZIPUR What began as a honeymoon ended in betrayal and death. The mysterious disappearance of newlyweds from Indore in Meghalaya has taken a chilling turn — with the arrest of the wife for allegedly orchestrating her husband’s murder. Sonam Raghuvanshi, 24, surrendered to police in Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh on Monday. She and her husband Raja Raghuvanshi had married on May 11 and left for Meghalaya. They were last seen on May 23 after checking out of a homestay in Nongriat. On June 2, Raja’s body was found in a gorge near Weisawdong Falls, East Khasi Hills. A smartwatch, a tattoo, a woman’s shirt, medicine strip, and a bloodstained machete were recovered at the spot. Her raincoat was also found nearby. Police say Sonam plotted the murder with her Sonam Raghuvanshi alleged lover Raj Singh Kushwaha, hiring three of his friends—Akash Rajput (19) from Lalitpur, Vishal Chauhan (22) and Anand Kurmi (23) from Indore. All four have been arrested in raids across MP and UP. East Khasi Hills SP Vivek Syiem said, “At first, we were looking for missing tourists. But after the body was found, we launched a full-scale investigation. The SIT had strong evidence before making arrests.” He further said that postmortem report revealed that Raja was hit twice in head by dao (machete). Meghalaya Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh stated, “Sonam came with three contract killers. She surrendered and the murder weapon has been recovered. All four have confessed.” UP ADG Amitabh Yash said Sonam was found at Kashi Dhaba on the VaranasiGhazipur highway on Sunday night. For Uma Raghuvanshi, Raja’s grieving mother, that detail now haunts every memory. “My son didn’t want to go on a honeymoon so soon after the wedding,” she told reporters, her voice heavy with pain. “But Sonam insisted. He told me she had already booked the tickets to Meghalaya.” y son was very happy after the marriage. He wanted Sonam as his wife from the bottom of his heart. We still cannot believe that she could get her husband killed. It would have been better if my son had remained unmarried as it could have saved his life.
