Curtains Fall Kohli signals end of Test journey ANI NEW DELHI In what could be a monumental moment for Indian cricket, Virat Kohli has informed the BCCI of his plans to retire from Test cricket, as reported by ESPNCricinfo. The announcement arrives just after Rohit Sharma’s Test retirement and ahead of India’s five-match Test series against England beginning June 20. Kohli, India's most successful Test captain, boasts 9,230 runs from 123 Tests at an average of 46.85, with 30 centuries. His peak between 2016– 19 saw him amass 4,208 runs at a staggering 66.79. However, form dwindled in the 2020s, with just 2,028 runs in 39 matches. Despite the slump, selectors hoped to lean on his experience for the England tour. If he retires, it will close a 14-year chapter marked by gritty centuries from Perth to Edgbaston. With Rahane, Pujara, and Ashwin already gone, Kohli’s exit marks the true end of an era. The stage is set. The maestro prepares his final bow. (Detail on Sports Page)
