The state with a blot of standing second in the highest number of upper primary dropouts in the country has the retention rate of the girls to schools is only 52 percent. The data put forth by Unified District Information System for Education 2021-2022 reveals alarming figures of the state. Data on retention rate shows that 48 percent of the girls do not go back to schools after upper primary to complete their education. This percentage increases further to 70 percent for the higher secondary classes. In comparison, only 8.6 percent of boys drop out after upper primary. Surprisingly, the dropout rate of boys in higher secondary is 10.6 per cent, which is more than that of girls. In the aggregate, 10.1 percent leave education in their secondary years in Madhya Pradesh. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday. Last year, state government paid Rs 79 lakh as income tax for its ministers. One cabinet minister, pleading anonymity, told Free Press that when Chief Minister Mohan Yadav made the announcement, it was welcomed by all ministers with thumping of tables. This decision was taken as part of austerity measure of the government. The sources in General Administration Department (GAD) told Free Press that to discontinue giving income tax on allowance of ministers, an amendment will be made in the salary and allowances Act 1972 and it will be tabled before cabinet for approval. It is learnt that along with Madhya Pradesh, states like Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Jharkhand, AP and Telangana were paying the income tax of ministers. Observing that the custody order was illegal and passed without jurisdiction, the High Court directed him to be handed into the care of his paternal aunt. “We allow the habeas corpus and order his release,” the court said. “We are bound by law. The aims and objectives of the Juvenile Justice Act and must treat him as any child in conflict with law separately from adults, despite the seriousness of the crime,” the court said. Sharing details about the decision, Tourism Minister Jaivir Singh said the tourism department would provide the company land for the international-level museum on a 90-year lease for a token amount of Re 1. "Tata Sons had proposed the project through the Central government, offering to build the museum at a cost of Rs 650 crore under its corporate social responsibility fund," Singh said at a press meet here port on environmental risk facing India.
