According to officials, the leopard that was spotted in Jagatpur village adjacent to the Yamuna might have wandered into the area from the nearby Yamuna Biodiversity Park. 2.3% Rs 2000 notes still in circulation MUMBAI: About 2.3 per cent or Rs 8,202 crore of the withdrawn Rs 2,000 banknotes are still in circulation, about six months after the deadline to deposit or exchange them at bank branches is over.This essentially meant 97.69 per cent of the total value of the high-value Rs 2,000 banknotes were back in the banking system. The total value of Rs 2000 banknotes in circulation was Rs 3.56 lakh crore at the close of business on May 19, 2023, the date on which RBI decided to withdraw the banknote. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was sent to Tihar Jail on Monday after being remanded in judicial custody till April 15 in connection with an excise policy-linked money laundering case, even as the Aam Aadmi Party dug in its heels asserting that he will remain the CM no matter how long he is kept in prison. Kejriwal is the fourth top AAP leader to be lodged in the Tihar Jail after his former deputy Manish Sisodia, ex-health minister Satyendar Jain and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh. On Monday AAP sources , indicated that Kejriwal's wife Sunita, who virtually made her political debut at the INDIA bloc's "Loktantra Bachao" rally at the Ramlila ground a day earlier, is likely to assume a "significant role" in the party in the coming days. Arvind Kejriwal was brought to Tihar at 4 pm and lodged in Jail Number 2, a prison official said, adding that he will be kept under watch for 24 hours. "His medical examination was conducted. His sugar level was a bit low, but medicines were given to him as per our jail doctors' advice," said the official. ON P8 One Vehicle, One FASTag norm comes into force NEW DELHI: State-owned National Highways Authority of India's 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' norm, which aims to discourage the use of single FASTag for multiple vehicles or linking multiple FASTags to a particular vehicle, has come into force from Monday, a senior official said. NHAI had extended the 'One Vehicle, One FASTag' initiative compliance deadline to March-end, in view of the problems being faced by Paytm FASTag users. "Multiple FASTags won't work... The official's family is planning to take help of the police and counsellors to persuade the woman not to switch faiths. The 67-year old man said that it all started some two weeks back when his wife, 63, developed knee problem. One day two women came to their house and sought work. They said that they were ready to work as housemaids. During conversation, the women came to know of his wife’s ailment and claimed they could cure it. The family agreed and brought oil and some medicines from them and started using them. The two even took her to a place in Shivnagar area of the city. After sometime the woman started feeling better. She then started paying attention to the t was the Congress which raised the allegation against the Delhi government. Their election-related communications will be specially and additionally monitored by the Commission from Monday onwards. A bench of justices BV Nagarathna and Augustine George Masih recorded the statement of Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, representing the IT department, that no precipitative action will be taken in the prevailing circumstances till the final adjudication of the matter. "At the commencement of the hearing on this application, the solicitor general appearing for the respondent department, submitted that there is no dispute that on several dates in the month of March 2024, demands have been raised as against the appellant herein totalling approximately Rs 3500 crore," the bench noted. Senior advocate Abhishek Singhvi, appearing for the Congress party appreciated , the gesture terming it "gracious" and said that all demand notices were issued in February and March for different years totalling Rs 3500 crore approximately . challenging for all of us. The society had filed a special permission petition in the apex court seeking the cancellation of the Madhya Pradesh High Court's order to conduct the survey at Bhojshala. Meanwhile, a bench headed by Justice Hrishikesh Roy issued notices to the Union government, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Hindu Front for Justice Trust and others on a special leave petition filed by Maulana Kamaluddin Welfare Society. The bench, also comprising Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra, directed that the courts below will not act upon the survey report. The apex court clarified that no physical excavation should be done by ASI at the premises in question which in effect could change the character of the structure. Excavation efforts are currently focused on reaching the foundation, with the digging pit behind the sanctum sanctorum now extended from west to east, forming an 'L' shape. Although the foundation has not yet been uncovered, various items, such as the stone used on stairs, have been discovered. The ASI team continues to work diligently on the survey . Abdul Samad Khan of the Sadar Committee expressed concern over the alleged concealment of significant findings, such as a skulllike object, urging transparency in the handling of discoveries. CONTD.
