The incident occurred when religious preacher or Katha Vachak Pradeep Mishra was distributing Rudraksha (sacred beads). A woman who sustained serious injuries was undergoing treatment at the district hospital. As there were no arrangements for any emergency situation, several women fell ill due to suffocation.
