According to the sources, Maoists' Central Committee member Gautam alias Sudhakar was gunned down in the latest gunfight, which comes days after CPI (Maoist) general secretary Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavaraju was killed by security forces in the Bastar region, dealing a major blow to the armed movement. However, Sudhakar's death is yet to be officially announced. The exchange of fire broke out in the forest of Indravati national park area when a joint team of security personnel was out on an anti-Naxalite operation based on inputs about the presence of senior cadres, a senior police official posted in Bastar Range told PTI. Personnel belonging to the Special Task Force, District Reserve Guard, both units of the Chhattisgarh police, and CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action - an elite unit of CRPF) were involved in the operation, he said. According to Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Vivek Lal, the truck was headed to Rewa from Prayagraj when it went out of control and overturned on an auto-rickshaw, trapping passengers inside. Four people died on the spot, while three others succumbed to injuries later. A rescue operation was launched immediately, and the injured were admitted to hospital for treatment. The deceased have been identified as Ramjeet Jaiswal (38), Pinky (35), Heeralal Jais- wal (65), Praveen (12), Ambika (8), Mansi (7) and Arvind (6). He was rushed to a medical facility in critical condition but could not survive. The victim, Shivansh Gupta, hails from Rewa. He was an MBBS first-year student at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College in Jabalpur and was residing in the college hostel. Before his tragic act, Shivansh sent a message to friends and family, expressing his struggles with depression and urging others not to follow in his footsteps. This alarming revelation prompted friends to rush to the hostel, only to find him preparing to jump from the roof. Despite their efforts to intervene, they failed. Investigations reveal that he was under significant mental stress in the days leading up to his death.
