A senior officer of Metro Rail Corporation said that metro was likely to start operating in Indore in January, while in Bhopal it would be rolled out in July. A clearance certificate from Commissioner, Metro Safety, would be sought before starting the operation. “Once clearance is received, the CM will be approached to roll out the metro for commer- cial operation,” said one of the senior officers of Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation. The incident was reported on September 6, in Shahpur, after police arrested complainant Narendra Mishra for blocking a highway along with a group of villagers after a resident was allegedly run over and killed by a vehicle of a liquor contractor. Later, Mishra alleged that Shahpur police station incharge BC Vishwas and constable Vivekanand Yadav chopped off his braid (shikha), broke his sacred thread (janeu) and thrashed him. ASP Anurag Pandey said that following complaint Vishwas and Yadav were removed from field duty to ensure impartial inquiry. He also said that preliminary investigation found no proof to support Mishra's allegations.
