On Monday Indore Bench of , Madhya Pradesh High Court gave eight more weeks to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) to complete the survey ASI . will have to submit the survey report before July 4. The court has made it clear that no extension of time will be given for the survey after this. Four separate petitions are going on in the High Court related to Dhar Bhojshala. On Monday all these cases , were heard together by the double bench of Justice SA Dharmadhikari and Justice Gajendra Singh. The court accepted the application of ASI and gave it eight weeks time to complete the survey . Earlier, Maulana Kamaluddin Welfare Society had submitted a petition in the Supreme Court demanding a ban on survey on which the Apex court refused to stop the survey . However, it instructed the High Court to not give any verdict in the case until the petition is disposed of in the Supreme Court. Earlier, the exam was scheduled to be held on June 16. "The National Testing Agency and UGC have decided to shift the UGC-NET from 16 June (Sunday) to 18 June 2024 (Tuesday) because of feedback received from candidates about the exam clashing with UPSC prelims. NTA will conduct UGC-NET in OMR mode across India on a single day," Kumar said. TEACHERS’ RECRUITMENT CASE SC STAYS PROBE INTO ROLE OF WB OFFICIALS NEW DELHI The Supreme Court on Monday stayed a Calcutta High Court order directing the CBI to probe the role of West Bengal government officials in a teacher recruitment scam. It, however, refused to stay for now the cancellation of the appointment of over 25,000 teachers and non-teaching staff. The top court was hearing a plea by the West Bengal government against a high court order invalidating the appointment of 25,753 teachers and nonteaching staff made by the School Service Commission (SSC) in state-run and state-aided schools. A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice But refuses to stay cancellation of appointment Manoj Misra, however, refused to stay the high court order cancelling the appointments and said it will hear the matter on May 6. Observing that taking away the jobs of about 25,000 persons is a serious matter, the top court asked if it is possible to segregate the valid and invalid appointments on the basis of the material available and who the beneficiaries of the fraud are. "We will stay the direction which says the CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) will undertake further investigation against officials in the state government," the bench said. Calcutta High Court had said the CBI would undertake further investigations with regard to the persons in the state government involved in approving the creation of supernumerary posts to accommodate illegal appointments. If necessary the CBI will , undertake custodial interrogation of such persons involved, it had said. Challenging the order, the state government, in its appeal filed before the top court, said the high court cancelled the appointments "arbitrarily". CONTD. After the complaints, the police filed a case under Sections 153, 153A, 465, 469, 171G of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and section 66C of the Information Technology (IT) Act and a probe was initiated. The police also sent notices to the X and Facebook seeking information on the accounts that uploaded and shared the video.
