The entire exercise in this regard will be completed by December 2024. The new draft will be published in May 2024, keeping in mind the 5000 plus objections that had been received against draft of previous master plan. While the previous master plan was prepared looking at the development needs till 2031, the new plan is being made to cater to the needs of the city till 2047. After a gap of 17 years, it was Congress government that had come up with Bhopal Master Plan draft in March 2020. A man was trampled to death in Gobri village in Anuppur on Thursday evening. The situation worsened after a cop opened fire on protesting villagers, injuring killed villager’s son and another. Another wild elephant injured two persons, including a woman in Bandhavgarh and another in Shahdol on Friday morning. On Thursday evening, a wild pachyderm strayed in Gobri villge from neighbouring Chhattisgarh. It killed 45-year-old Gyan Singh and stayed around the corpse for four hours. Courts cannot direct states to implement schemes: SC NEW DELHI The scope of judicial review in examining policy matters of the government is very limited and the courts cannot direct the States to implement a particular policy or scheme on the grounds that a "better, fairer or wiser" option is available, the Supreme Court has said. The observation came while disposing of a PIL seeking formulation of a scheme on setting up of community kitchens to combat hunger and malnutrition. The top court refused to pass any direction in the matter observing that the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and other welfare schemes are being implemented by the Centre and states. A bench of Justices Bela M Trivedi and Pankaj Mithal said legality of the policy, and not the wisdom or soundness of the policy, would be the subject of judicial review. "It is well settled that the scope of judicial review in examining the policy matters is very limited. The courts do not and cannot examine the correctness, suitability or appropriateness of a policy, nor are the courts advisors to the executive on the matters of policy which the executive is entitled to formulate.
