' & $'/ ' "&+, ,! * & # NEW DELHI: Supreme Court on Monday granted Central government time, till March 15, to make payment of arrears of One Rank-One Pension (OROP) to all the eligible pensioners of the armed forces. General R. Attorney Venkataramani, representing the Centre, submitted before a bench headed by CJI DY Chandrachud that the tabulation process has been completed by the Comptroller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA). He further added that the tables have been sent to the Ministry of Defence for final approval. The bench, also comprising Justice P.S. Narasimha, asked the central government to ensure that armed forces pensioners receive all arrears expeditiously and there is no further delay The AG submitted that . by March 15, the money will start flowing into the accounts of 25 lakh pensioners of armed forces. The bench allowed the exservicemen association to move an application if they have issues in connection with the payment of arrears. The Centre, last month, moved the apex court seeking extension of time till March 15, 2023 for payment of arrears of OROP scheme to the eligible armed forces pensioners. In March last year, the top court, in a verdict, said OROP scheme is a policy decision and the court finds no constitutional infirmity in the OROP principle as defined by the communication issued by the government on Nov 7, 2015. The DGCA on Monday said that Air India didn't report the incident until the regulator sought the incident report from them on January 5. "After perusal of the reply submitted by M/s Air India through email dated January 6, prima facie it emerges that provisions related to handling of an unruly passengers as per DGCA CAR Section 3, Series-M, Part-VIA have not been complied with. It has been noted that the re- sponse of the airline has been lackadaisical and delayed," it said. The Central Water Commission, had in 2015, reported that among 141 large reservoirs which are over 50-years-old, one quarter had lost at least 30 per cent of their initial storage ca. pacity Trapped sediment has already robbed roughly 50,000 large dams worldwide of an estimated 13 to 19 per cent of their combined original . storage capacity The study by the UN University Institute on Water, Environment and Health (UNU-INWEH), also known as the UN's think tank on water, shows that 6,316 billion cubic metre of initial global storage in 47,403 large dams in 150 countries will decline to 4,665 billion cubic metre, causing 26 per cent storage loss by 2050. The loss of 1,650 billion cubic metre storage capacity is roughly equal to the annual water use of InIndonesia, China, dia, France and Canada combined.
