Investigation officer Harsh Songare told Free Press that a complaint was filed on Saturday, in which it was alleged that in the park area three puppies were burnt alive. It was also alleged that the mother of these puppies was poisoned and she was lying dead in another part of the park. In the primary police investigation, it is found that the puppies were found in burnt situation, in one of the bio fertilizer pit situated in the park. The police suspects that may be because of cold weather someone had put fire into the pit and accidently the three puppies had died. The IO also added that the cause of death of the female dog will be certified after the post-mortem report. SOMENDRA SHARMA Mumbai The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case after discreet checking of a complaint revealed that between 2016 and 2019, officials of the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), Aurangabad, in cahoots with an accountant at the Maharashtra State Cooperative Cotton Growers Marketing Federation Ltd (MSCCGMFL), approved fraudulent claims in the names of employees of the federation. According to the CBI, the action of the suspects caused wrongful loss to the EPFO to the tune of Rs73.97 lakh in respect of 359 bogus claims and corresponding gain to themselves.
