It POSITIVE RIDE FOR RETAIL INFLATION FPJ BUSINESS BUREAU MUMBAI India’s retail inflation movement, as measured by the consumer price index (CPI), showed positive signs in the . month of July According to data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme , Implementation on Friday the CPI eased to 6.71 per cent in the month under review as compared to 7.01 per cent in the previous month. The lower retail inflation was mainly attributed to price cuts on edible oil and easing , commodity prices globally CPI eased to 6.71% in July from 7.01% in June though it is still above the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) upper tolerance band. The good news comes a week after the RBI’s decision to hike the lending rate for the third time in a series. Last week, the central bank hiked the repo rate by 50 basis points to tame inflation. However, it kept the inflation forecast unchanged. As per the latest ministry data, the overall goods inflation came in at 6.75 per cent as compared to 7.75 per cent in the previous month, while inflation in vegetables was at . 10.9 per cent in July Fuel and light inflation came in at 11.76 per cent. He was later unlawfully incarcerated for over 18 months owing to a typographical error in a chemical analyser’s report. Justice Bharti Dangre awarded compensation after the government pleader informed the court that it will initiate an inquiry and that at present there is no policy for giving compensation. CONTD. ON NATION PAGE Swiss-flag yacht in choppy seas STAFF REPORTER / MUMBAI Braving the rough seas and strong wind conditions, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) ship Agrim and an ICG helicopter rescued five crew members, including foreigners from a distressed Switzerland-flag yacht Porrima, at Mandwa in Alibaug. The ICG officials on Friday said that the crew is safe and has been shifted to a hospital for medical check-up. The yacht, on its passage from UAE to the Maldives, arrived off Mandwa for shelter on June 28, to undertake necessary repairs for continuing its voyage. In the dark , hours of Friday the yacht raised a mayday request due to a fire in its battery compartment. The ICG immediately responded to the SOS call and diverted the fast patrol vessel ICGS Agrim for the rescue operation. The ICG ship arrived in the vicinity of the yacht within an hour, while braving the heavy weather.
