The court of Special CBI Judge Rajinikanth Pathak, Dhanbad, held Lakhan Verma and Rahul Verma guilty of murder, and convicted them under sections 302 and 201 of the IPC. The hearing on the quantum of punishment of the two convicts will be held on August 6. Anand was murdered exactly a year ago on 28 July 2021, when he was out for a morning walk and was mowed down by an autorickshaw, which led to his death on the spot. 9 MBBS students booked under Anti-Ragging Act BHOPAL: The Madhya Pradesh police have booked nine senior medical students under the 'AntiRagging Act-2009' for their alleged involvement in forcing juniors to perform obscene acts and to use abusive language with girl students on the pretext of ragging. At least three persons died in Narmdapuram district while two other died in Damoh, according to the government officials. Three persons including a 90-year-old woman died in Bagra Tawa village of Narmdapuram district within four days. They reported vomiting and other related symptoms. The district administration attributed that food poisoning could be the reason of death. A team of doctors led by CMHO Dr Dinesh Dahalwar immediately rushed to the village and collected samples of water for lab testing. The team also distributed chlorine tablets for purification of water and also ORS packets to check dehydration. Later, water samples were found ok. Narmadapuram collector Neeraj Singh, while talking to Free Press, said, “Vidya Bai (45) died on July 24¸ Munna (40) died on July 26 and his 90 years old mother Sunder Bai died next morning.” Singh further said, “All the deaths reported from Bagra Tawa village with a pollution of 2,000. We immediately sent a team to collect water samples but all the samples were found ok. So, doctors said deaths could be due to food poisoning as water supply is ok. CONTD. Primary investigations by police have revealed that some small-time bootleggers of different villages in Botad district had made the spurious liquor by mixing water with methyl alcohol or Methanol, a highly poisonous industrial solvent, and sold it to villagers for Rs 20 per pouch.
