The fraud came to light after the gang targeted a senior doctor. The arrested accused had met the doctor through the app and then called the latter to meet at a secluded place. When the doctor reached the spot, the accused and his aides assaulted him, stole his iPhone and snatched his wallet. The victim managed to escape and lodged a complaint with police. The arrested person has been identified as Natiq Naushad Shaikh, 21, a Mumbra resident. According to police, on April 28, the victim, a Parel resident employed at a reputed hospital, had met Shaikh had met on a dating app and then they decided to meet near the Khada Parsi area near Nagpada.
