The searches were conducted in Chennai, Coimbatore and Vijayawada at the premises of the "accused and suspects" involved in the import of semi-processed Talc stones with contraband. During searches, various incriminating documents, articles and other items have been seized. The case relates to the involvement of foreign persons in the procurement and delivery of the 2,998 kg drug consignment worth approximately Rs 21,000 crore. The narcotics drugs were found concealed in import consignment of 'semiprocessed Talc stones' originating from Afghanistan which had arrived from Bandar Abbas Port in Iran. The anti-terror agency took over the investigation of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Wednesday in pursuance of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) order. A total of eight people - four Afghan, one Uzbek and three Indian persons - have been arrested in the case, the Ministry of Finance had said on September 22. DELHI IS LOOKING AT IMMINENT BLACKOUT There could be a blackout in the national capital in the next two days if coal supplies to power plants do not improve, a Delhi minister has said. Tamil Nadu and Odisha have already raised concerns over long power cuts due to shortage of coal in power plants. Over half of India's 135 coal-fired power plants, which generate around 70 per cent of the country's electricity, have fuel stocks of less than three days, data from the central grid operator showed, news agency Reuters had reported earlier this week. "If coal supply doesn't improve, there will be a blackout in Delhi in two days," the national capital's Power Minister Satyendra Jain said. "The coal-fired power plants that supply electricity to Delhi have to keep a minimum coal stock of one month, but now it has come down to one day," Jain said, reports NDTV. Former IAS officer Shah Faesal, who topped the IAS exam in 2009, then resigned and floated a political party in Jammu and Kashmir, is likely to be appointed as advisor to Jammu and Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha. Faesal had disbanded his political outfit last year following his detention under the Public Safety Act (PSA). Six days after the Lakhimpur violence that killed eight people, including four farmers, prime accused Ashish Mishra, son of Union home minister for state Ajay Mishra, has been arrested. Before his arrest, the Special Investigation Team quizzed him for nearly eleven hours. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Upendra Agarwal informed the media that the accused was not cooperating in the investigation; rather, he was giving misleading answers. The DIG said that Ashish Mishra would be produced in a night court and the police might seek his remand for further interrogation. Earli- er, on Saturday morning, Ashish appeared before the SIT after a second summon was served on him, after he failed to turn up for the interrogation. As per the police, the incident took place on October 8 between Igatpuri and Kasara stations in Maharashtra on the Central Railway route. Until Saturday evening, the GRP and local crime branch had arrested four people and were searching for the other accused involved in the crime. The police said the accused boarded the train at Igatpuri (Aurangabad Railway district) and got into sleeper bogie D-2. “It was around 7 pm. The eight ac- cused committed the offences when the train was passing through the ghat area during the night,” said Quaiser Khalid, police commissioner, Railways, Mumbai. The GRP Kalyan, has registered a , case under sections 395, 397, 376 (D), 354 and 354 (B) of the Indian Penal Code and sections of the Indian railway Act. Manoj Patil, deputy commissioner of police, Central Zone, said that the accused took advantage of the dark, threatened passengers with blades and knives. “They started snatching mobile phone and cash from the passengers. The accused even sexually assaulted a woman in the train,” he said.
