You (the State) now give carte blanche and say hospitals do not have to adhere (to the order) till 2022 and people will continue to die by burning." The notification exempted the hospitals from carrying out fire audit till June next year. To this, Justice M R Shah said, "40 hospitals in Gujarat were held liable and they came to High Court. Later, the government order was that no ‘Hosps have become large industries, better close them’ The Supreme Court on Monday observed that hospitals have become large industries thriving on human distress, and it is better they are closed. The top court added state governments can provide better hospitals, instead of permitting private hospitals to operate from small residential buildings. action should be taken against hospitals for violation of fire safety. After the incident, some youths reached the spot where they had heated exchanges with ASP Rajesh Raghuwanshi and other cops.Contd. on 2 civic officials caught taking bribe in Khargone INDorE The MP Lokayukta police on Monday caught two officials, including in-charge Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) of Bhikangaon, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 12,000 from a scrap dealer in Khargone district, an official said. CMO Manoj Gangrade and in-charge of Municipal Council's Revenue Department Neeraj Rawat were caught accepting the bribe in their office at Bhikangaon, said Praveen Singh Baghel, DSP of the Lokayukta's Special Police Establishment . The complainant had secured the highest bid for purchase of scraps from Bhikangaon Municipal Council during a tender process, he said. However, these officials were asking for a "commission" of Rs 12,000 from the complainant to complete the tender process, he said. Baghel said after receiving a complaint, the Lokayukta police laid a trap and caught the two officials while accepting the bribe. A case under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against them, he said.
