The tropical storm 'Tauktae' which had intensified into a very severe cyclonic storm, lies close to the Gujarat coast, the IMD said. The wind speed at the Union Territory of Diu was 133 kmph when the cyclone started making its landfall at around 9.30 pm, the Met office said. The ESCS (extremely severe cyclonic storm) TAUKTAE lies close to Gujarat coast. The landfall process started and will continue during next 02 hours, IMD said in a Twitter post. Chouhan announced two schemes on Monday for the family members of those government employees who have fallen prey to the virus. The schemes are: Mukhya Mantri Anukampa Niyukti Yojna and Mukhya Mantri Vishesh Anugraha Yojna. According to the Niyukti Yojna, a family member of those who were working as permanent employees, on daily wages, as work charge staffers and those getting salary from emergency funds will be appointed on compassionate ground. Apart from that, those who are working on contract, outsourcing and on collector rate are also included in the scheme. The scheme is meant for those who have died of Covid-19. According to the second scheme, an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh will be given to the next of kin of the government employees who have fallen prey to Covid-19. Anganwadi and Asha workers, assistants and village Kotwars are included in the scheme. Chouhan has said a separate scheme for appointment on compassionate ground is being prepared for Asha workers. He says the government employees are working round the clock to arrest the Covid-19, and if anything unfortunate happens to them, the government will stand behind their families. The CM has already announced that the children who lost parents in the pandemic will be given Rs 5,000 as pension. Not only that, the government will take care of their education, provide free rations and give an interestfree loan to women to start a business. When reports last trickled in, the Indian Navy, along with a private vessel ‘Energy Star,’ had rescued 59 of the 273 people on board the barge. Rescue operations continued late into the night with two Indian Navy vessels, INS Kochi and INS Kolkata, rummaging through the vast expanse of a choppy sea for survivors. A navy officer requesting anonymity said, “The barge capsized. The Navy along with a private vessel ‘Energy Star’ saved 59 people from the barge. Search and rescue operations are on.” The Indian Navy will press all it assets, including the P-8i’s, on Tuesday morning to support the ongoing rescue operation. He told police that she often used to cry during video call with him. Suicide note also indicates the same.
