Haryana's Khattar gets Geeta finally finds her mom! taste of farmers’ wrath Geeta, the mute girl who was brought to Indore in 2015 after staying in a Pakistani orphanage for nearly two decades, has finally found her biological mother! As in old movies, her mother (Meena Pandhare) was even able to prove that Geeta was her sharing by daughter about a rare burn mark . on Geeta’s tummy However, since her mother is a poor earthen pot seller Geeta is unwilling to accept them, said Monica Purohit, of Anand Service Sansthan, who has been her host parent. Geeta has even refused to get a DNA test, fearing its match, Monica added. “Geeta had been getting VIP treatment with politicians and travelling in flights, so for her to accept the life of earthen pot seller’s daughter is challenging,” Purohit said. However, it is possible to ac. cept and adapt eventually With that hope, Geeta was sent to live in a skill development camp in Maharashtra, where she will be able to meet her biologi. cal family frequently “Geeta was born in a small village near Jintur in Parbhani, Maharashtra, where her family was a caretaker of a farm, which she assumed to be hers,” Purohit said. She added that location, experience and everything else matched between Geeta . and Pandhare family “The reason Geeta’s mother never claimed her before is that she cannot read or understand Hindi and now, when the news in published was Marathi, she approached us,” Purohit said. In 2015, Geeta was brought to India from Pakistan with the help of former External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. After this Geeta was kept in Indore, since then she has been living here. After being brought to Indore, many couples country the across claimed to be Geeta's parents, but the search for Geeta's family continued as there were no successful DNA match. So far 24 families have claimed Geeta as their daughter. At the end of their tether, the tipping point came as protesting farmers on Sunday took matters in their own hands, ransacking the venue of the ‘kisan mahapanchayat' programme in Haryana's Karnal district Minister where Chief Manohar Lal Khattar was to address a gathering and enumerate the benefits of the three contentious agriculture laws. Since Karnal is CM Khattar’s constituency, the Haryana Police was not inclined to brook any nonsense and used water cannons and lobbed teargas shells to disperse the miscreants. However, the police action seemed to precipitate matters with the protesters climbing onto the dais, throwing chairs flower pots and tearing up banners and posters. Result: Khattar's meeting had to be cancelled as his chopper was unable to land at the venue. The Haryana farmers, at their wits end, with one ‘baithak’ (meeting) after another not yielding any tangible outcome, were in no mood to listen to By the chief minister. noon, hundreds of them had converged at a toll plaza, where they were stopped by the police. But, fending off water cannons, tear gas and batons, they managed to get past the barricades and reach the venue of the event, where they allegedly vandalised the arrangements. "Around 5,000 people were waiting for me to come and speak but it didn't happen. In view of the protests, I asked the chopper to return as I did not wish to aggravate the law and order situation," the Chief Minister told the media later. He, however, blamed the Opposition for the incident rather than farmers who he said ‘‘never behave in this manner". $ US impeach push becoming a shove US House Democrats are set to introduce an article of impeachment against outgoing President Donald Trump on Monday over the deadly January 6 Capitol unrest. California Congressman Ted Lieu, a Democratic member of the House Judiciary Committee, tweeted on Saturday that the article of impeachment, which has so far had 180 co-sponsors, will be brought forward during Monday's pro forma session in the lower chamber, reports Xinhua. The article seeks to remove Trump for "incitement of insurrection" at the Capitol Hill. Thousands of Trump's supporters overwhelmed police and violently breached the security on January 6 when Congress was certifying President-elect Joe Biden's victory in November 3, 2020, presidential election. Trump had addressed a rally outside the White House shortly before the deadly violence unfolded on Capitol Hill, urging his supporters to march toward the building, deemed as . the citadel of American democracy , On Sunday Republican senator Pat , Toomey too, demanded that Trump resign 'as soon as possible;' meanwhile, Vice-President Mike Pence still hasn't ruled out using the 25th Amendment to remove the president from office just 10 days before his term is up. Pence has not spoken publicly since Wednesday's events where he con- demned the attacks before moving forward with the joint session of Congress to certify the election. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has publicly expressed support for initiating proceedings to impeach Trump for a second time in just over a year. The House, led by Democrats, impeached Trump in 2019 after an inquiry triggered by a whistleblower complaint that raised concerns about the White House's interactions with Ukraine. The Republican-led Senate later acquitted the President, allowing him to continue holding office. The US Constitution provides that the House of Representatives "shall have the sole Power of Impeachment." No sitting President has ever been removed from office through impeachment. New Delhi: Two flight surgeons will soon fly to Russia where they will get hands-on experience in space medicine from their Russian counterparts for Gaganyaan mission, an Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) . official said on Sunday The flight surgeons are doctors from the Indian Air Force who have specialised in aerospace medicine. “The flight surgeons will leave soon. They will get hands-on training with flight surgeons in Russia,” the official said. Training of astronauts is a critical aspect of the human space mission project. Fight surgeons are responsible for astronauts' health before, during and after a flight. The flight surgeons will also get to train with the prospective astronauts, the official said. The four test pilots of the Indian Air Force, chosen for India's first manned mission to space, have been undergoing training at the Yu.A. Gagarin Research and Test Cosmonaut Training Centre near Moscow since February last year. The Center was built to support manned space programmes, space exploration activities, space engineering, cosmonauts' training, as well as ensuring their safety in space and providing postflight rehabilitation programmes for cosmonauts. Slur sucks, but Oz needs to suck up to 'boss BCCI' I f a match stops for bad light or rain, it is natural, but the Aussies should be ashamed of the fact that the Sydney Test of the prestigious GavaskarBorder Trophy came to a brief halt on Sunday and a group of spectators were driven out from the ground for allegedly making racist comments against Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj. Again! Siraj was earlier allegedly racially abused by a drunk spectator on Day 3 of the third Test. On the third day of the match, Siraj was allegedly referred to as a 'monkey' and a 'brown dog' by a drunk spectator from one of the stands, reviving memories of the infamous Monkeygate episode of the 2007-08 series. Understandably, the allpowerful BCCI has said, "Siraj was referred to as 'Brown Dog' and 'Big Monkey' both of which are racist slurs. The matter was immediately brought to the notice of on-field umpires. They were constantly abusing Bumrah too," a BCCI source told news agencies. Meanwhile, Cricket Australia also joined the bandwagon and condemned "in the strongest terms possible" all discriminatory behaviour," said Sean Carroll, CA's Head of Integrity . and Security "As series hosts, we unreservedly apologise to our friends in the Indian cricket team and assure them we will prosecute the matter to its fullest extent," Carroll further stated. RavichanMeanwhile, dran Ashwin on Sunday said, "I would like to point out something, this is my fourth tour to Australia and Sydney especially here, we had have these types of experiences in the past as well. I think one or two times players have reacted to this in the past and they have gotten into trouble, it is not because of the player, it is because of the way the crowd has been reacting. The fans have been quite nasty, but this is one occasion where they have gone one step ahead, it is a case of racial abuse, we lodged an official complaint yesterday and we brought it to the notice of the umpires." And you bet, the Aussies must be ashamed of themselves. Even legendary Shane Warne and Hussey jumped into the fray to condemn the slur. BCCI has complained the matter and in all seriousness, they MUST understand that Australia's contribution to ICC is no match to BCCI's. Being one of the richest sporting boards, in 2020, with (US) $405 million out of (US) $1,534 million, India had 26% share in the ICC FTP income disbursed to 10 Test playing nations, while ECB received US$139 million as the second highest earner. $
