The cacophony of electioneering for the by-election to 28 seats died . down on Sunday On the last day of campaigning, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan addressed public meetings and held road shows. In these meetings, Chouhan took to task the 15-month-old Congress government and MPCC president Kamal Nath. At Suwasra, Agar and Biaora, Chouhan said when the Congress selected its chief minister it pulled a fast one with the state. He said the Congress showed the face of one person as chief ministerial candidate and appointed someone else as head of the state. The CM announced that not a single grain would be bought below the MSP. “I vow to transfer all the subsidies straight to farmers’ accounts,” he said. Chouhan said he had thought the Congress formed government after 15 years, and it would do some good work, but it failed the people. Chouhan said Kamal Nath wanted the accounts of his (Chouhan’s) work, but Digvijaya Singh had ruined the state. The BJP government has constructed two lakh km roads and provided 24-hour , power supply Chouhan said. Nearly 41 lakh hectares have been irrigated, and schools, colleges and hospitals opened, he said, adding that the Congress wanted the accounts of his work. Chouhan wanted to know what Kamal Nath did for the state during his 15-month rule.Nath who held up all the welfare projects began to get photographed with film stars for IIFA, Chouhan said. " The play scripted in Gwalior has to end there only said MPCC presi, dent Kamal Nath on Sunday, the last day of electioneering for bypolls. Many have quit the Congress and many have joined it, but there is no , room for traitors in the party Nath said. The one who is sold is sold forever, he said, adding that he has never done politics of bargaining. He said when he had been the chief minister he came to know about the ‘purchasing’ of legislators three months in advance, but he did not want to run a govern. ment based on treachery He said he wanted to run a government elected by the people. Nath said that he wanted the accounts from the BJP of its 15-year rule and was ready to give information about what he did for the state during his 15 months’ reign. Yet, he did not want a certificate from Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, but from the people, he said. Whenever the opposition is set to lose an election, it uses police, administration, and money power, and all efforts were made to prevent him from electioneering, Nath added. The former chief minister has further said he tells the voters to take the money offered to them, because it is theirs. Nath said that the BJP tried to divert the people’s attention from the farmers’ problems, youths and investment and that he never called Jyotiraditya Sincia a dog. Firing on all cylinders on a day when campaign for 94 assembly segments going to polls in the second phase came to an end, Modi also touched upon contentious issues like Balakot air strike, Ayodhya, Article 370, Citzenship Amendment Act and the alleged anti-national slogans raised at JNU by pro-Left activists. "One of the double yuvraj had forged an alliance in UP a few years criss-crossed He ago. through the state wearing a black jacket, waving at crowds. The alliance was drubbed," said Modi referring to Rahul Gandhi, whom he did not mention by name. Gandhi had entered into a belated alliance with Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party in 2017 and held a joint campaign marked by roadshows with the catchphrase "UP ko ye saath pasand hai (UP likes this coalition)". The BJP went on to register an unprecedented victory in the state. " India tells Pak to vacate Gilgit-Baltistan The Centre has asked Pakistan to immediately vacate Indian territory of Gilgit-Baltistan which the Imran Khan government declared as its provisional fifth province on Sunday . Gilgit-Baltistan is a part of the erstwhile princely state of Jammu and Kashmir, and is under Pakistan’s illegal occupation since 1947. Earlier this year, the Pakistan Supreme Court allowed the government to conduct elections in the region. However, there is huge anger in the region, which had a semi-autonomous status. The move is meant to "camouflage Pakistan’s illegal occupation" of the area but it cannot "hide the grave human rights violations, exploitation and denial of freedom" of the people for over seven decades, India said soon after the announcement. The MEA said the government "firmly rejects" Pakistan's attempt "to bring material changes to a part of Indian territory under its illegal and forcible occupation". "Instead of seeking to alter the status of these Indian territories, we call upon Pakistan to immediately vacate all areas under its illegal occupation," the ministry said. Khan made the announcement during his visit to Gilgit-Baltistan. The visit has come on the heels of Saudi Arabia removing POK and Gilgit Baltistan from Pakistan's map. The announcement is likely to ignite massive outrage in the region; this will have much wider implications which will set the tone for exacerbating tensions that are already being played out in the east along the Line of Actual Control on the IndiaChina border.
