Truant teacher sacked after 13-year probe WAS ABSENT for two years sans information Government teachers are not only earning twice as much salary as private school teachers but they are enjoying special 'privileges' like going on leave for two years without any permission! A government school teacher posted at Government School Vijay Nagar did not show up for duty for 2 years in 2007 and even after that continued to vanish for long leaves without taking any permission from the department. After 13 years of investigation, teacher the named Sonali Gupta has finally been served with ‘Removal of Service’ orders. As shared by Joint Director (Indore) school education department Manish Verma, “The case proceedings were long, but this is an example for all those teachers who feel they can escape and continue to take undue advantage of the government.” As per the investigation report, the case against Sonali for not showing up at the school was registered on November 26, 2007. Prior to that, she had taken permission in 2003 for leaves. Investigation officer Vijaya Sharma had continued to enquire and investigate the case seeking an explanation from Sonali on her leaves. Showing up for hearings, Sonali justified her leaves as medical emergencies. “The emergency medical leaves were supported with medical certificates from a government medical officer serving in a civil dispensary in Juni Indore,” Verma said. However, the medical certificates advising leave of 6 months at a time were finally ruled to be invalid. “There are two reasons for not accepting the medical certificate, one, the government medical officer does not have the authority to give medical certificate advising 6 months leave to a government official; and the second, these leaves were not supported with regular medicine receipts, update visits and health check-up proofs,” Verma said. 393 cases, 7 deaths, corona continues unabated in Indore FM: Start insolvency process against debtor, guarantor together Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday said that insolvency proceedings against the corporate debtor and personal guarantor can be initiated together under the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code and should be pursued simultaneously for a comresolution prehensive process. Indian Navy’s decommissioned aircraft carrier Viraat on Saturday set sail for the last time, on way to Alang in Gujarat, where it will be broken down and sold as scrap. For Navy veterans who watched the huge vessel being towed away by a tug boat, it was an emotional moment as they stood near the Gateway of India, waving at the once 'floating town', aboard which they spent the best years of their career. As Viraat began its final journey from the Naval dockyard, a Navy helicopter circling overhead provided a majestic backdrop to the vessel's last voyage. A Defence spokesperson said Viraat was to leave for , Alang on Friday but its departure was delayed by a . day The aircraft carrier served the Indian Navy for 29 years before being decommissioned in March 2017. It had served in the UK's Royal Navy as HMS Hermes and was named INS Viraat after being inducted in the Indian Navy in 1987. There were attempts to convert 'Viraat' into a museum or a restaurant, but none of the plans fructified. Alang-based Shree Ram group bought it for Rs 38.54 crore at an auction. Viraat will be dismantled at the Alang ship breaking yard, said company chairman Mukesh Patel. "The vessel will likely reach Alang by September 21 if weather conditions remainfavourable," he added.
