The six-run win was India’s narrowest by margin of runs in their Test history, with the previous being the 13-run victory against Australia in Mumbai in 2004. On a day of high drama, SC raps Rahul over China land grab slur Agencies NEW DELHI The SC on Monday stayed criminal proceedings against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his alleged derogatory remarks about the Army made during his Bharat Jodo Yatra in December 2022. However, the court did not hold back in criticising Gandhi for his comments, Live Law reports A bench of Justices Dipankar Datta and Augustine George Masih issued notices to the UP government and complainant Uday Shankar Srivastava, a former Director of BRO, and sought their response in three weeks. “If you are a true Indian, you wouldn’t say such a thing,” Justice Datta told Gandhi’s counsel, referring to his claim that 2,000 sq km of Indian land had been captured by the Chinese Army. 4Contd on | Nation with India needing four wickets for an epochal triumph to level the series while England in need of 35 runs to claim the series, the visitors were like a bunch of men possessed. On the fifth and final day of the Test, the 31-year-old Siraj brought his fierce, workmanlike beast mode to the fore scalping three of the four remaining wickets in a 5/104 innings haul while Krishna (4/126) saw the back of Josh Tongue as India were on their way to register one of their great Test match victories on English soil. 4Contd on | Nation 4See also | Games I feel amazing because we fought hard from day one till now. I downloaded a picture from Google saying 'believe.’ – Mohammad Siraj, India pacer Trump in new ‘massive’ oil tariff threat FPJ News Service MUMBAI US President Trump said on Monday he will impose substantial tariffs on India, citing continued purchases of Russian oil and alleged profiteering from reselling it on global markets. In posts on Truth Social, Trump accused India of buying "massive amounts of Russian oil" and then selling much of it "for big profits" while showing indifference to Ukrainian casualties from Russia's war machine. "They don't care how many people in Ukraine are being killed." Calling the threats “unjustified” and “unreasonable”, India vowed to take steps to safegaurd national interest. 4Contd on | Nation Don’s serial ‘lips don’t lie’ moments FPJ News Service MUMBAI It seems US President Donald Trump has found a new trade route — one that bypasses tariffs and oil deals, heading straight to the lips of his press secretary. In a recent Newsmax interview that sounded more like a beauty pageant com- 1 mentary than a presidential address, Trump gushed over White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, extolling her “face,” “brain,” and — wait for it — “lips.” Yes, those ever-moving, machine-gun-like lips. Apparently, in Trump’s America, anatomical appreciation is now a form of executive leadership. “She’s become a star. It’s that face, it’s that brain, it’s those lips, the way they move. Like a machine gun,” Trump said, presumably thinking he was complimenting her rather than crafting the creepiest job performance review in American political history. 4Contd on | Nation SC okays local body polls with 27% OBC quota PTI MUMBAI Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said the Supreme Court's order has paved the way for holding the elections to local bodies with a 27 per cent quota for OBCs. "The apex court had already directed on May 6 that the local body polls be held as per the OBC quota of 2017. This direction was confirmed today. Now the entire OBC reservation will be implemented in the upcoming polls to local bodies," Fadnavis told reporters. He further said the 2022 law of ward delimitation has been scrapped. The SC also rejected another petition challenging OBC reservation.” reaffirming that elections would proceed as per the May 2025 order, ensuring that the 27 per cent reservation for OBCs remains intact," the minister said. He said the apex court also confirmed that ward and constituency restructuring is a state government prerogative, which clears the way for OBC reservation in local self-governance institutions. Security agencies have gathered evidence, including documents issued by the government of Pakistan and biometric data, confirming that the three slain foreign terrorists involved in the deadly Pahalgam attack were Pakistani nationals, officials said on Monday. The terrorists, identified as senior Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives, were killed in an encounter with security forces in Dachigam forest on the outskirts of Srinagar on July 28 during an operation codenamed ‘Mahadev’. 4Contd on | Nation 1 *Furniture is virtually staged.
