The seasonal rainfall is likely to be 96 per cent of the Long Period Average (LPA) with a model error of plus or minus five per cent, Secretary Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) M Rajeevan said. The Enforcement Directorate told special judge Arvind Kumar that 36 businessmen, including Vijay Mallya and Nirav Modi, have fled from the country in the recent past. The probe agency's special public prosecutors D P Singh and N K Matta countered Sushen's claim that he had deep roots in the society, saying, "Mallya, Lalit Modi, Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi and Sandesara brothers (Sterling Biotech Ltd promoters) had deeper routes in the society yet they left the country There . are such 36 businessmen who fled from the country in the last few years." During the argument, ED's advocate Samvedna Verma told the court that the probe was at a crucial stage and the agency was trying to find out who was "RG" referred in the diaries of Sushen. Verma also accused Gupta of influencing the witnesses in the case and told the court that he also tried to destroy the evidence in the case. The court reserved order on Gupta's bail application for April 20. Vehicles ferrying EVMs, poll staff to have GPS ageNcIes Bhopal The Madhya Pradesh election office will install GPS systems on more than 20,000 vehicles to be deployed for transporting Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and polling staff, an official said on Monday . This is being done on directives of the Election Commission. "As per directives of the Election Commission, GPS systems will be installed on vehicles to be deployed for transporting EVMs and polling staff to keep a watch on them," state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) V L Kantha Rao told reporters here. More than 20,000 vehicles are likely to be deployed for poll duty in the state, which will have four-phase polling for its 29 Lok Sabha seats. A workshop was organised Monday to apprise poll officials about the installation of GPS systems and their working on vehicles to be used for election duty, he said. Meanwhile, preparations are on for holding the first phase of polling on April 29, an official said. A total of 41 cases, involving these officers, are pending sanction of prosecution from government departments, according to a latest data by the CVC. Of the total cases, the highest of nine are pending with the Ministry of Personnel, that acts as a nodal department for anti-corruption matters and eight with the government of UP A total of four cases, involving 13 of its staff, are pending with the State Bank of India, Canara Bank, Corporation Bank and IDBI, the data said. Three such cases involving corrupt employees are pending with Union territories, two each with the Defence Ministry, Food and Supply Ministry Health , and Family Welfare Minister and the Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation, among others, it said. As per norms, sanction for prosecution has to be decided within four-month time. "These cases are pending sanction of prosecution for more than four months. We have reminded the government departments and the banks concerned to act fast on these requests," a senior CVC official said. Explain Rafale remark: SC tells Rahul ageNcIes NEW DELHI The Supreme Court on Monday directed Congress president Rahul Gandhi to give an explanation by April 22 for "incorrectly" attributing his 'Chowkidar Narendra Modi chor hai' remarks to its verdict in the Rafale case and said it will consider a criminal contempt petition filed against the opposition leader. The court gave the direction on the petition filed by BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi in which she has accused Gandhi of attributing some observations to the apex court which was not in the April 10 Rafale judgement on admissibility of certain 'leaked' documents as evidence. Stating that it will consider the criminal contempt petition, the court made it clear that the remarks made by Gandhi in public have been "incorrectly attributed" to the court. Posting the matter for further hearing on April 23, the court also said politicians should not attribute any findings or views to the court in their speeches. Reacting to the direction, the Congress said it will provide an explanation to the Supreme Court while the BJP asserted that the top court has exposed Gandhi's "lie". Master Choa Kok Sui A domestic help who killed retired IAS officer DY Munawar’s 75-year-old doctor wife for merely Rs 5,000 four years ago, has been sentenced to life on Monday . Additional sessions judge BK Palod handed down sentence to Hridesh Malviya (23), a resident of Suraj Nagar. Hridesh was a domestic help of Munawar who along with his wife Dr Fey lived in posh Manishpuri Colony. As he was a drunkard, Fey fired him in 2014. Nearly a year after that, he returned to Fey seeking Rs 5,000 on March 22, 2015. As she denied giving him money, Hridesh who was drunk pushed her and slashed her neck with knife. He kept her body in a Nano car of elderly couple and dumped it near Silver Springs. He left the car at Scheme No 140 and returned to Mu- nawar’s house as his motorcycle was parked there. He first cleaned the blood stains on the floor of house and then decamped with Rs 1.48 lakh and jewellery worth lakhs of rupees. The incident was captured in CCTV camera installed in an apartment located in front of Munawar’s house. On the basis of CCTV footage, police arrested Hridesh who accepted to have killed Fey in a fit of rage. A sum of Rs 1.20 lakh and some jewellery, which he had stolen from Munawar’s house, were recovered from Hridesh’s house. As it was murder of an elderly woman, state government put the case in a category of special cases. Public prosecutor Mohammad Akram Sheikh said they produced 25 witnesses in the case. After hearing both the parties, the court awarded sentence to Hridesh and also fined him. for assistance in software, the TCS was involved in providing hardware for the system. IMF may delay bailout package to Pak: report Islamabad The IMF's bailout package to cash-strapped Pakistan could be delayed as the global lender is pressing it to be transparent on the CPEC project and wants a written guarantee from Islamabad that its assistance will not be used to repay the loans to China, a media report said on Monday . Pakistan is seeking USD 8 billion from the IMF to bail itself out from a severe balance-of-payments crisis that threatens to cripple the country's economy . With the generous Chinese assistance, Pakistan has so far received a total of USD 9.1 billion in financial aid packages from friendly countries during the current fiscal year. Finance Minister Asad Umar said earlier this month that a mission of the IMF would visit Islamabad soon after the spring meetings of the World Bank Group, which includes the IMF, and an agreement should be signed by the end of this month.
