Earlier, OBCs were given 14% reservation. Chief Minister Kamal Nath has increased OBC reservation to 27%. The government had sent an ordinance to the Governor on Friday which was immediately approved. With release of notification, the reservation in state now stands at 63%. Madhya Pradesh has become the first state where OBCs would get 27% reservation. The move is being seen as master-stroke by Kamal Nath, in the light of Lok Sabha elections. Various OBC organisations have commended Nath for hike in reservation. Rajya Sabha MP Rajmani Patel, expressing gratitude towards Nath, said OBCs constitute 52% of the population in the state. Patel termed it a revolutionary decision by Nath. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah expressed concern over low turnout of people in party programmes in the state. Shah recently visited Sagar in connection with party workers' convention. He lost his cool over low turnout of party workers. The board swung into action only after the question paper went viral. Students claimed that question number 12 had nine sub-questions. The option said “answer any two.” However, the marks allotment mentioned 7X2=14. A teacher requesting anonymity said that actually it should have been ‘answer any seven questions’ so that a student has a choice of attempting seven out of nine questions. MP Board officials took cognisance of the incident, said Public relations officer. He said that the matter has been referred to the ‘Analysis Committee’ to probe nature of fault and to identify the culprit. The Board will take a decision after the committee submits its report, he added. An academician said that advantage will lie with students if the board is at fault as they would get bonus marks.
