GOVT COMING OUT WITH RS 20 COIN NEW DELHI: The government will come out with the first ever Rs. 20 coin which will be shaped like a 12-edged polygon with design of grains to denote farm dominance. Besides, a new series of one, two, five and ten rupees coins, too, would be minted, which will be circular in design and have denominations written in Hindi script. These coins contain design features which will be of great assistance to visually impaired persons. TWO KASHMIRIS ATTACKED IN UP LUCKNOW: Two Kashmiris selling dry fruit were thrashed by a group of saffron-clad men here; local residents finally came to their rescue and informed the police. An "alert citizen" also made a video of the attack, following which police teams swung into action and arrested the main accused, Bajrang Sonkar. ‘‘They (attackers) said we are terrorists. We were told that we sell merchandise here and throw stones in the Valley. They started thrashing us. They asked for our Aadhaar cards," Mohammed Afzal Naik told the media and the police, reliving the traumatic moments of Wednesday morning. TAILPIECE IT’S TIM APPLE FOR DONNIE First there was "Jeff Bozo" and now it is "Tim Apple". US President Donald Trump seems to have made it a habit to muddle up names. Tim Cook is a pretty wellknown figure and even if you don’t care about computers, you would surely know his name. It all happened at an American Workforce Policy Advisory Board meeting when the president pretty unmistakably called Tim Cook “Tim Apple.” Trump has a long history of flubbing people’s names, usually swapping out the first name for something more alliterative. He’s even messed up names of executives before, like calling Marillyn Hewson, Lockheed Martin CEO, Marillyn Lockheed. It is hard to say why this happened. Did he forget Cook’s name? Does he only associate people with the companies that they run? Was it on purpose, as some kind of psychological domination game? Literally anything seems possible at this point. A five-judge Constitution Bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi on Wednesday reserved the order after hearing various contesting parties. Hindu bodies, except Nirmohi Akhara, have opposed Ambani. You didn’t want the money to go to Ambani alone. You too will get benefit," Rahul claimed in an early morning Press conference. CONTD. Nirmohi Akhara, in fact, has suggested the names of retired justices Kurian Joseph, AK Patnaik and GS Singhvi as mediators; the Hindu Mahasabha faction of Swami Chakrapani, on the other hand, has proposed the names of former CJIs -- J S Khehar and Dipak Misra -and Justice A K Patnaik (who retired on Wednesday). CONTD. ON P7 Exactly three weeks after the terror attack in Pulwama, one person was killed and 30 others were injured when a grenade flung under a parked bus by a militant exploded at Jammu's main bus stand. The attacker was arrested within hours.Camera footage was examined and based on oral testimony of witnesses the police were able to identify the suspect. He was wearing jeans and a red rucksack. ‘‘We were on lookout for anyone matching the description. The accused was arrested and he confessed to his crime. The Hizbul commander from Kulgam had tasked him with the grenade attack," said Inspector General of Police Manish K Sinha. The attacker was identified as Yasir, alias Arhaan. The thunderous explosion occurred around 11.30 a.m. when the General Bus Stand, as it is known, was teeming with people. Sinha said the grenade had rolled under the parked bus that was headed to Uttarakhand. CONTD. ON P7 ately clear to which group the activists belonged, a visibly angry Gadkari asked them to keep "shut" and even threatened to get them evicted by the police if they continued to disrupt the function. The youth also threw proVidarbha pamphlets and propaganda material near the dais and outside, even as the gathering, including Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, looked on. The police immediately rounded up the sloganshouting youngsters and whisked them away from the venue following which the function continued without any further disruption. the Attorney General against activist lawyer Prashant Bhushan. Justice Mishra asked Grover as to whom he was representing in the matter. When Grover said, "Ms Jaising", Justice Mishra asked, "Not Indira Jaising?" Grover then clarified that he was appearing for her. At this juncture, Venugopal who was present in the court, said: "He (Grover) should say (he is appearing) for his wife." To this, Jaising took umbrage and said, "Mr Attorney General you should withdraw his remark. I am a person in my own right". CONTD. ON P7 Gadkari loses cool with pro-Vidarbha activists AGENCIES Nagpur Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari lost his cool when a group of activists raised 'pro-Vidarbha state' slogans and disrupted his speech at a function here. As Gadkari stood up to address the gathering after the inauguration of various projects, around 15-20 activists raised loud slogans in support of a separate Vidarbha state on Wednesday evening. Recently , there was speculation that the Congress may field her from Rae Bareli, as she has extensively campaigned for mother Sonia in her pocket borough. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav had earlier in the day asserted that the ECI mulls social media ban, 48 hrs before polls Political messages, ads, tweets… NARSI BENWAL / Mumbai The Election Commission of India (ECI) informed the Bombay High Court on Wednesday that it was mulling a total blackout of all media platforms, especially social and electronic media, 48 hours before the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. This blackout will only affect political messages and advertisements put out by candidates, political parties or individuals. This means that there can be no political tweets or messages during this period. The ECI’s submissions were made in response to a query by a bench of Chief Justice Naresh Patil and Nitin Jamdar, regarding the strategy of the polling authority to regulate the rampant dissemination of paid political advertisements on various media platforms. “We are considering blacking out not just social but even electronic media. This will solve all issues,” submitted ECI counsel Pradeep Raj- gopal. The ECI counsel was interrupted by CJ Patil, to ask if the commission had issued any direction regarding the blackout. However, Rajgopal denied that any such direction had been issued. To this, CJ Patil said, “Then, why don’t you (ECI) issue such a direction. How long will all this go on?” The judges accordingly directed Rajgopal to make a statement regarding the blackout proposal, at the next date of hearing. CONTD. ON P7 Congress is essentially a part of the SP-BSP-RLD grand alliance and it will be contesting only two seats — Amethi and Rae Bareli. But Congress seems to have a wider canvas than was being presumed. Party veteran Salman Khurshid, who was external affairs minister in the UPA dispensation, will contest from Farrukhabad. Kushi Nagar in Uttar Pradesh will be contested by RPN Singh. Saharanpur, which witnessed caste clashes in 2017, has been earmarked for Imran Masood. CONTD. ON P7 MANMOHAN MAY BE THE OPPN GLUE FROM OUR BUREAU / New Delhi Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who turns 87 in September, may be proposed by the Congress as Prime Ministerial candidate of the grand alliance, to put an end to the BJP's propaganda that there are too many candidates in the fray for the top post. That will also end speculation that the entire exercise of uniting the opposition against PM Modi and his party is to foist Rahul Gandhi in the saddle as prime minister.
