Referring to Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's recent speech in Lok Sabha when she spoke for 2.5 hours to defend the Rafale deal, Gandhi said: "Janta ki adaalat se 56-inch ki chaati wala chowkidaar bhaag gaya. Aur ek mahila se kehta hai, Sitharaman ji, aap meri raksha kijiye, main apni raksha nahi kar paunga, aap meri raksha kijiye. Aapne dekha 2.5 hours mahila raksha nahi kar payi. PM Modi latched onto the remarks, accusing the Congress president of insulting Nirmala Sitharaman, India's "first woman defence minister." ‘‘For the first time, a daughter of the county has become defence minister. It is a matter of pride. Our defence minister silenced all the opposition parties in Parliament (on Rafale) and exposed their lies. They were so stunned that now they are insulting a woman defence minister. Not just the minister but they are insulting India's women power," Modi said at a rally in Agra in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. Later in the evening, Gandhi hit back with a sharper taunt. "Stop shaking, be a man," he tweeted. A Bill on 10 per cent quota in jobs and education for people from forward castes who also belong to the economically weaker sections, cruised through in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday night. The demand by some opposition parties that the Bill be sent to a select committee for scrutiny was turned , down. The legislation, which was passed by the Lok Sabha on Wednesday evening, will now have to be signed off by the President. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has pointed out that elections are held in the country every few months. In the Lok Sabha on Wednesday the , Bill had the support of 323 lawmakers and only three had voted against it. On Thursday 165 voted in favour , and seven gave an emphatic ‘no.’ With 155 ‘noes’, the Rajya Sabha also rejected the proposal to send the Bill for scrutiny of a select committee. Earlier, taking on the argument put forth by the Opposition that how the beneficiaries of the new reservation Bill shall be decided, Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad told the Rajya Sabha that the legislation gives powers to the states to decide on the economic criteria for defining the beneficiaries of the tabled Quota Bill. Intervening in the debate, he also said the 10 per cent reservation to poor in the general category will be applicable to jobs cricket, sixer is in it is when Inslog overs,a abouthittohitend.the the match is If you are concerned about this, then let me tell you this is not the first sixer, many more are yet to come — Ravi Shankar Prasad in both central and state governments. Prasad used a sport analogy to explain the timing of the Bill: "Cricket mein chhakka slog over mein lagta hai, jab match close hota hai tab lagta hai. Agar aapko issi pe pareshani hai, to yeh pehla chakka nahi hai, aur chakke aane wale hain. (In cricket, a sixer is hit in the slog overs, it is hit when the match is about to end. If you are concerned about this, then let me tell you this is not the first sixer, many more are yet to come)."
